In the past we have always been proud to purchase and recommend Gateway computers, we have always thought the quality of their systems to be superb for the price they ask.. In fact we have used Gateway as our primary choice for over 3 years! WELL, NO LONGER!!!
We were really disappointed with our last purchase... As it turns out, a Gateway computer we had for just over 2 years crashed on us and their operating system disc that came with the pc failed to install correctly, so we contacted Gateway and they wouldn't help cause the machine was no longer under waranty.. We're an understanding company so we decided it's time to buy a replacement, naturally we went out and bought the newest Gateway machine available on the market with a quad core processor and 4 GB of ram! Well when we set it up and powered it on the keyboard wouldn't work... After hours of strenuous efforts we contacted Gateway for a solution, they had nothing to say but "return the computer back to the shop", how insightful! So we did, and we came back with another of the same model just to run into more complications....
In effort to resolve the defects we contacted Gateway, AGAIN, and the only advise they could give us was to restore the PC back to factory settings... We politely explained that the PC was at it's factory settings, we just unpacked it and set it up, then we followed their instructions anyway, just to prove a point! Well, point made, GATEWAY's CUSTOMER SUPPORT HAS NO IDEA WHAT THEIR TALKING ABOUT OR HOW TO FIX ANY ISSUE WITH THEIR PRODUCTS, THE ONLY RECOMMENDATION THEY CAN MAKE IS "RETURN IT"!!! We gave up and took matters to our own hands, warranty or not!!!
There was no computer on the market that compares to the one we bought for the price we paid, so we made an effort to fix the computer first. The main issue was connectivity, we couldn't get the new PC to recognize our network or connect to the internet. Our Techies examined the problem and found that the system did not have the correct drivers installed for the hardware... Oops! That's quite embarising for a company that has been building and selling computers fro so many years!!! At the end we managed to correct all the problems we were experiencing with no help at all from GATEWAY's Customer Support and we vowed that in the future we will no longer recommend or purchase Gateway products!
